About Me

My story

My parents were born in Mexico, and I was born in Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up, I was never involved in anything since I would simply watch my brother play club soccer. Soccer is a highly well-known Mexican sport that is practiced all around the world yet, I never really loved it for myself since I didn't picture myself following in my brother's footsteps. It took me some time to realize what I liked, and it wasn't until high school that I began to explore other areas of interest. Because my parents are Mexican and I was just used to their traditions, they didn't want to explore what this new generation has to offer. I also wanted to try something different, so I joined dance without understanding what I was getting myself into. I had no dance experience, and I was aware that my parents wouldn't encourage me to learn since they thought dance was so strange. They had never heard of jazz, lyrical, modern, ballroom, etc. They are solely familiar with traditional Mexican dances like el baile del Venado.

During my first year of high school, I learned a lot of new things, including ballet and a variety of dance techniques that I had never experienced before, but I really loved them. Dance was one of those classes that you wanted to attend because it was enjoyable. My fun was cut short due to covid. The online class was awkward, but I kept sticking with dance because there was something about it that I liked even if I couldn’t dance for a year. I tried to improve myself as much as I could before going back to school, I was always very competitive and wanted to be as good as the girl next to me that is just how I was raised with my brother because it did seem like a competition all the time between us. I didn't start dancing again until my junior year, and I was in dance company, which is the best of the best. I was very nervous at first, but I enjoyed it, and that year I made the decision that I would never stop dancing. I also loved my classmates; we clicked right away and grew close, but nothing lasts forever. All the company members except for two graduated. I and Ty were left to hold down the Rockera name which stands for rockstar in English. Adjusting to a new class that was younger, less mature, and didn't take it as seriously was quite difficult, but they eventually got the hang of it, and now we are very goofy and comfortable with one another. Yet ultimately, as I reflect on my four years, I have no regrets I left everything on that stage even though I will miss it the next chapter awaits. My junior year was one of my best years in dance. We had just gotten back from the pandemic, and I auditioned for dance company, and I got in. I was very excited, and I was able to be in something bigger than myself with these beautiful dancers whom I still adore so much.

future goals

2010 - present

Since I was small, I have always liked the idea of helping others. Growing up my tia had cancer and it was hard growing up being exposed to that which is why I have always wanted to be a doctor, a surgeon to be exact. I strive for perfection, and I think I can get to where I want to get in the future. I will be attending college this fall, but I am unsure on what school I would like to attend. I was accepted to the university of Oregon, ASU, UOA, and NAU.  Which school I attend in unknown but no matter my choice I know I want to pursue a career in the medical field.
